Beer Bread (Erin Go Drunk)

BeerCooking

This is a great bread for St. Patrick’s Day if you are not too drunk to cook due to  all the beer you imbibed at the parade this morning. Even if you are drunk, the bread is so easy to  make you can probably do it successfully t in your pathetic condition. Plus you can use up the leftover beer your celebratory posse did not get around to drinking, if there is any, which I admit is unlikely.

Pair this bread with some St. Patrick’s Day Soup and  I promise it will prevent a hangover, unless you wash it down with irish whiskey in which case all bets are off.

Beer Bread

 3 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 bottle of beer, room temperature

4 tablespoons butter, plus extra for the pan

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

 2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt. Pour in the beer and mix everything until just combined.

 3. Pour the dough into a greased loaf pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, until a knife stuck in the middle comes out clean. Let the bread rest for five minutes before serving.

Serves 6-8.
